One Hanson
Magic Johnson’s investment company, Canyon-Johnson Urban Funds, partnered with the Dermot Company to convert the Brooklyn clock tower into luxury condominiums. Renamed One Hanson Place, the Williamsburg Savings Bank building is a landmark that has stood as a symbol of pride for the borough of Brooklyn.
But the developers shouldn't be proud of their treatment of workers in the building.
Unlike other luxury buildings in New York, the workers who keep One Hanson Place running don’t have access to affordable health care for their families. They are also being denied the pension benefits and job security other luxury building workers receive.
